Hiram Aponte was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico on November 7th, 1933. He arrived in NYC in the late 50's and resided in Hell's Kitchen. He worked as a Chef at La Polpetta and later on at the New York Life Cafeteria. He married his love, Myrtha Rosas in 1961 and they had a son, Hiram Jr. In 1977 he moved his little family to Manhattan Plaza where they resided till the end.

Hiram Sr. enjoyed action films and loved watching all baseball games. He loved listening to Spanish music especially Salsa. He was a kind hearted, humble and graceful gentleman. He was very loved by all and will be missed.
