Tribute & Message From The Family

Fran shone with a beauty that radiated from within. She blessed us with her humanity and embraced so many of us with her unconditional love. Fran found the best in everyone; she drew it out of us. Whatever she had, she shared with uncommon generosity and grace.

Fran saw the positive in every situation, she referred to herself as an eternal optimist, which couldn't be truer. She was quick with a smile and forever kindhearted. Fran was always the first to offer support and help in any way she could to her friends, family and colleagues.

Fran was a brilliant writer. She had the courage to pursue her passion and never gave up. Mother Night may have been her crowning achievement, though there were so many wonderful plays that she wrote, including her 2019 prize winning short play, Train Ride.

Fran loved to travel and see the world….

…. and now she is off on her great adventure.

I am so sorry to hear about Fran passing. She was indeed always so present, animated and open minded. And quite joyful.I cannot count how many times she show me some rather cute little tapdance routines right after telling me how bad a dancer she would have been. This is sad. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

My sister Fran Diane was always a lot of fun to be with.
Fran really loved the theatre, whether working as a stage manger or
doing the lights or pursuing her creative writing, Fran was always all in.
Fran was a wonderful hostess and truly enjoyed entertaining her guests.
From having a Christmas party in June or going to shows with friends or simply finding new restaurants to try, Fran provided a festive atmosphere.
While being a great cook, Frans desserts were also delicious.
Care for a lemon bar anyone!
Solid fun entertainers are hard to find, but Fran was on top of the list.
She brought sunshine into many lives and really cherished doing it.
Heaven has gained a valuable asset!
God bless Fran Diane!

Rest In Eternal Peace, my beloved friend. We met in June of 1981 when I was 21 and you were 29. We bonded that summer working at the Forestburg Playhouse. An Equity Stage Manager, you taught me the ropes of how to run tech for theatre before I started my first teaching job at Pine Bush HS. For ten years you came and would spend a week or more with me designing the lights for our annual High School musical and coaching the kids how to run a tech crew, NY style. I visited you as you worked so many shows across the city and state, and if you were down a person I’d work crew that night. Along the way you became family, and would spend every Thanksgiving and Easter at our home. We’d go to an annual Yankee Game, museums, wineries, concerts, shows....the beach. So many long visits and cups of tea. Every important family event- you were there. I think back throughout my entire adult life... and you’ve ALWAYS been there. First for me, and then for our entire family. Your zest for cooking, writing, travel, theatre, adventure. Your genuine interest in everyone you met. Your infectious laughter that would fill the room. It’s hard to imagine you are actually gone. And we will miss you so very much. We would love to have been there to pay our respects but we were exposed to COVID and must quarantine. We know that you know this and understand. Love you, my friend.

I wasn't very close with Fran but she was always a delight to be around. I was one of the newer ushers and she always helped and gave me advice whenever. I'm a bit of a shy person too but Fran always made me feel comfortable as we could go on talks about the ushering and Broadway world. I wish nothing but the best for her and her family.

Working with Fran was one of the highlights of suiting up at Alice Tully Hall. She taught me soooooo much and was always sweet, quick with a joke and smile and happy to help. She will be very sorely missed. I'll miss you Franny! Rest In Peace, my friend.

Fran's passing has left a big hole in the hearts of all who knew her. Her joy in cooking, friendship, theater, spirituality, and travel was infectious. Always singing a show tune, always being optimistic....Who coaxed the blues right out of the horn...Fran (jazz hands to you!)

Fran was a Co-Worker of mine and she was one of the nicest people I've ever met. She was always eager to help anybody who needed it and was very easy to talk to. On long days at work, she would often cook and bring food for everyone and bake her delicious Lemon Squares. I will miss her kind and eager spirit and I'm grateful that our paths crossed.
